About NISO Energy

Built to Solve a Problem That Has Been Ignored for Decades

Heavy industry exhausts enormous quantities of heat. We are building the system to turn that waste into on-site electricity.

Why We Started

Industrial facilities — steel mills, cement plants, glass furnaces, chemical processors — operate at temperatures that dwarf anything in the built environment. A significant fraction of the energy they consume leaves as heat through exhaust stacks, cooling systems, and radiated surfaces. Most of it has no economic use.

Existing waste heat recovery technologies work well at the high end of the temperature spectrum. Below roughly 500°C, the options narrow sharply. The equipment is expensive, the efficiency drops, and the economics rarely close without subsidies. That gap is where most industrial waste heat actually lives.

NISO Energy was founded to close that gap. We are developing a modular system designed specifically for the mid-range temperature conditions that existing solutions handle poorly — and doing it under a commercial model that removes the capital barrier for host facilities.

Mission

Make industrial waste heat a practical, economic source of power.

How We Work

We are a deep-tech company, which means we are solving a hard engineering problem before we scale a business. Our first priority is demonstrating that the system performs as designed under real industrial conditions.

We are pursuing a single, well-defined pilot in the steel sector. Steel was chosen because it presents the clearest combination of heat availability, operational continuity, and willingness to engage with new technology. A successful steel pilot is the foundation for everything that follows.

We do not make performance promises we cannot yet support with data. We are transparent about what we know, what we are testing, and what remains to be proven.

Canadian Deep-Tech

NISO Energy is a Canadian company. We are developing technology for a global industrial market, starting with the industrial base that surrounds us.

Canada's heavy industry — steel, mining, oil sands processing, cement — represents a significant and proximate opportunity. Canadian research institutions, engineering talent, and government innovation programs are part of our development environment.

We intend to build something that works here first, then export it.

Collaborators and Partners

We work with a small number of organizations whose expertise directly supports our development program. We are selective about these relationships.

We do not publish partner names without their consent. Qualified investors and potential host sites will receive a full briefing on our collaborative relationships as part of the engagement process.
